- 1963
Foundation
Mara Gian Mario opens Officine Meccaniche Mara in Vanzaghello, at via Chiodini 3. A family-run contract machining business is born.
- 1985
The second generation
The founder's children, Giovanni and Natalia Mara, join the company and guide its growth over the following decades.
The arrival of Giovanni and Natalia Mara is not merely a generational handover, but a genuine shift in mindset in the way the company is run. Long immersed in the world of mechanics, the two siblings bring a twofold legacy: on one side the respect for craftsmanship and precision that their father had made founding values of the business; on the other a broader vision, able to look beyond the boundaries of the domestic market.
It is precisely this combination — tradition and innovation — that makes possible the investment in the first CNC boring machine, a choice that at the time carries a considerable financial risk, yet proves strategic. With this new production capacity, the company is able to position itself as a technical partner for orders demanding tight tolerances and higher quality standards, prerequisites for working in the aerospace sector.

First quality certification issued by the Italian Naval Register, renewed every year.
- 2000s
From S.a.s. to S.r.l.
A deep corporate restructuring and entry into the marine engine production sector. The most important multinational groups join the client list.
- 2000s
New sectors, ISO 9001
Acquisition of prestigious machining centres and orders for the nuclear, naval, energy and wind sectors. Quality control on machined products with a laser system.
- Late 2010s
PAMA Gantry Vertiram
Construction of a new plant with the installation of the PAMA Gantry Vertiram boring machine, among the leading machines in Europe for its technical features.
- Since 2017
The third generation
Lorenzo Granata, Natalia's son and the founder's grandson, officially joined the company in 2017. He takes over the leadership of the business and, thanks to the values and expertise gained over the years, contributes significantly to the company's growth, winning the most important international players as clients.
- 2018
Aerospace certification
Entry into the aerospace sector with the production of the first precision mechanical components for the aeronautical industry.
- 2022
ISO 9100
Quality management system certified to the ISO 9100:2018 aerospace standard. About 2,000 parts produced per year, with orders from fifteen countries across five continents. Inspections include hydrostatic tests to customer specifications.
- Today
New plants and machinery
Construction of a 10,000 m² building and installation of new boring machines and vertical lathes.
Our plants.
The production facility comprises three plants between Magnago and Vanzaghello, for a total covered area of about 15,000 m².
Recognition.
Over the years, Officine Mara's dedication and quality have earned recognition from programmes and institutions of national standing.
